Lakewood, Federal Center

The site was bought by the government during WW II and used for military reasons. A branch line of the then existing tram system was built to transport personnel there. The tracks would not only have originated from this period (they were hardly used after WW II) but this tram would also have occasionally run there as route 84!
Military activities have long ceased here and all kinds of official authorities are housed on the site.

Lakewood, Federal Center

Perhaps the most protected and inaccessible museum tram in the world, it is located on official Federal Government land. The tram therefore only runs once a year. This ride was an exception and I would like to thank the organisers for taking the trouble to do so. The fact is that obtaining permission requires as much paperwork as getting a visa for any country.

The tram was restored in an exemplary manner: 24,000 hours of volunteer work is impressive. They are right to be proud of the result.
