Добро пожаловать в балтиморскую базу, где вагоны меняют собственников раз в пару лет, меняют номера при переводе на другой маршрут и иногда ещё меняют номера в ходе упорядочения нумерации. И так всё время до 1922 года.

В петербургской автобусной базе аналогичная проблема решена, причём для разных проблемных перевозчиков по-разному, хотя для уже списанной техники вековой давности можно и расписать всё подробно.

Далеко за примерами ходить не надо. Недавно подобную картину мы могли наблюдать в Казани, где с закрытием парка и передачей вагонов в другой парк менялись их номера или даже в пределах одного депо номера вагонов упорядочивали бесчисленное множество раз
