Whanganui Tram No.10
Operator: Wanganui Corporation Tramway (WCT)
In service: 6th March 1912 — 15th September 1950

Built in 1912 by Christchurch based builders, Boon and Company for the Wanganui Corporation Tramways, No.10 is typical of the small 4-wheel combination- type tramcars (saloon with open-air end sections) used in the provincial town tramways of Whanganui, New Plymouth, Napier, Invercargill.

Over its 38 years of service, No.10 remained almost completely unaltered in configuration. During the 1940s and into the 1950s, tramcar services were being reviewed throughout New Zealand. In the case of Wanganui Corporation Tramways, the aging system, lack of maintenance (largely due to World War Two) and the move to replace tramways with trolley buses saw the close of the system.

No. 10 was last operated on 15 September 1950 at the public parade marking the farewell of trams in Whanganui. Following this, the body was sold locally and then later purchased by Ron Alexander, Graeme Bennett and Alan Lang, who in turn presented No.10 to MOTAT for preservation in 1967.
