METRORail Siemens S70 Avanto LRV set No. 205 & No. 219 approaches Smith Lands Station

This two car METRORail S70 set is operating a Northbound Red Line service approaching Smith Lands Station. This station is towards the southern terminus of the 13 mile Red Line running Noth-South through central Houston.
METRO (Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County) operates bus and light rail services in the Houston metro area. The light rail ‘METRORail’ network has three lines (Red, Purple and Green) developed since 2004 covering 22 miles (at the time of this photograph).
Siemens manufacturers the S70 Avanto at its facility in Sacramento, California. It is also used by multiple North American metro systems including MARTA, TRAX and Metro Transit. METRORail was the launch US customer of the type in 2004 (Units 101-118). A further order of S70’s was made in 2012 (Units 201-219).
