One of the main purposes of the tramway, which opened 10.10.2010 — servicing the Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi in the northwest of the city. The first version of the line ended right outside the university (see the arch of the Main Gate in the background). There were plans to extend the line to the Medical School, within the university in 2018.

Первый участок линии заканчивался около университета (см. арку главного входа на заднем плане). В планах продление линии к медицинскому факультету на территории университета к 2018 г.
