The tunnel is still there, is under the presidential, ex royal, ex imperial, ex papal, place of Quirinale.
The service and the track was suspended and removed the 31 December 1929 when all the network inside the Roman Wall was stopped and replaced by the trolleybus. Only around Termini and some other small part the track and service wasn't replaced.
