V odpoledních hodinách dne 11. ledna 2024 byl na základě průběžného monitorování stavu inundačního mostního pole na libeňské straně s okamžitou platností zastaven veškerý provoz po tomto poli včetně vstupu chodců. Opatření bylo odůvodněno zjištěným závadami na vrcholovém kloubu oblouku. V 15.58 h byla vyhlášena opatření v tramvajové dopravě, která byla ještě téhož večera i později upravována. Technická správa komunikací vyhlásila záměr v horizontu několika týdnů vypracovat a realizovat návrh podepření tohoto pole. Provoz na hlavní části mostu přes Vltavu V009 dotčen není a po sjízdných komunikacích byla zavedena náhradní autobusová doprava.

V následujících dnech byla ustavena odborná rada monitoringu mostu a ta v průběhu dalších týdnů konstatovala, že žádná ze čtyř zvažovaných variant podepření či provizorní opravy nezaručuje nerušený provoz. Doporučila proto předmětné pole zbourat. Práce začaly 4. dubna 2024.

On the afternoon of 11 January 2024, all traffic on the Libeň side of the bridge span, including pedestrian access, was stopped with immediate effect, based on ongoing monitoring of the condition of the Libeň bridge span. The action was justified due to the identified defects on the top joint of the arch. At 3.58 p.m., line changes were announced for tram traffic, which were modified later that evening. The Technical Administration of Communications announced its intention to develop and implement a design to support this part within a few weeks. Traffic on the main part of the bridge over the Vltava River is not affected and an alternative bus service has been introduced on the passable roads.

In the following days, an expert bridge monitoring board was set up and over the following weeks it concluded that none of the four options considered for underpinning or temporary repair guaranteed uninterrupted traffic. It therefore recommended that the subject span be demolished. Work began on April 4, 2024.
