Why were this cable line and one in Ise abandoned? What replaced them?

Почему этот фуникулёр и другой в Исе были заброшены? Что пришло им на смену?

At the end of World War II, due to a shortage of steel throughout Japan, a number of low-demand railways were removed and converted into materials for the production of weapons.
This funicular is one such example.
The reason why the funicular was abolished was the request of the military that a funicular for sightseeing was unnecessary for the war effort.

After World War II, it was reopened for operation, but once a new toll road was built and made accessible by car, tourism demand disappeared and both were discontinued.
