Nice photo but the normal tram route was not yet in use on that moment: I don't see any overhead line. The Holiday Inn in the background is now 'First Inn'.
Diesel trains reached this stop exactly a year earlier on 28.05.1998. One can see that VT 42 is in regular passenger service. However, there was a major tram track reconstruction project in the city center, which continued until 01.10.1999. At the time of this photo trams didn't run through this stop, which allowed for the postcard-perfect display we see now.
