The contact wire is missing from the roadway near the northern trolleybus terminus as of 2015 (However, one trolley pole is still visible in the far right of this photo)

As of 2014, the contact wire in the main section is definitely intact, see here:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/ - I figure this photo shouldn't be uploaded because the poles are minuscule, you have to zoom in very far to see the trolleybus infrastructure.

A high resolution version of the photo is uploaded. Upon zooming, remnants of trolleybus infrastructure are clearly visible on the pole in the background.

Kimchaek had no trolleybuses in 2018 (Google Earth). It received two 'new' ones in 2019.
The poles got changed to new poles: https://postimg.cc/f3d94h0c
Although the wires are still very bad.

Also, there is good evidence of trolleybus in Jonchon County. A torrential rain destroyed the depot roof and two trolleybuses are visible.

Your image is helpful to understand what happened: the view is almost certainly 40.6879600585179, 129.20559850460174 Roughly the midpoint of the southern section looking northwest. So the southern half is in working condition.

The northern section must have been decomissioned for around a decade at least, when the roundabout was constructed in 2011 or 2012 they removed several consecutive poles and never replaced them. So, the section was either closed at that point, or had already closed.

System created:

If I remember correctly from previous discussions, the exact routing remains unknown.

Gamerdgl has a new theory, that the line at Jonchon runs into the 2.8 General Machine Plant (aka Machine Plant Managed by Ri Jong Ok). The 10/25/2021 satellite shows poles on one side into the factory and in this 2008 visit, https://nonproliferation.org/wp-content/...t-2.jpg
there is what appears to be a mounting bracket on an arm of one of the poles in the background, in this marked position: https://nonproliferation.org/identifying...plants/
And in the plant, some poles are probably obscured by the thick layer of trees.

It's a relatively new system, it only received its trolleybuses in the 2010s.

This is further supported by a clearly visible bypass with poles on the side built around the main square within the plant, behind the 'commemorative' column:
40.630781, 126.431175

Furthermore, a single 12-meter trolleybus is parked right next to the column in 09.2011 and 08.2014 views. In both cases the vehicle is parked at the same spot, which seems to be a storage location, since the depot at the northern end of the line was built only by 2017.

However, I can't find the same trolleybus in the 01.2012 view, which looks clear since it was shot in winter with no leaves on trees. I suspect if we find this trolleybus in 01.2012 we might clarify things regarding routing.

In any case, the location of the loop within the plant remains unclear. Perhaps at 40.615725, 126.425369

> 01.2012 view

Just now I looked again, and I do not see anything at this timepoint - it is also possible the service was interrupted, as the other small systems. I was trying to think why someone would park the trolleybus just within the factory gate at the midpoint (which is odd), and it might have been in order to avoid hecklers

When I looked at the route in detail a little while ago I came to the same conclusion as you about the southern terminus. It seems to have been repaved by 2017 as well. I reasoned that the tension in the wires only makes sense if another pole is directly in line with what you call the bypass.

The sucky part is that the poles along the forested main road will always have shadows pointing north, due to the position of Jonchon relative to the earth/so assuming the poles are on the west side the whole way down, they will get lost in the scenery except for the last section near the south after the bend, where the shadows might be seen on the roadway. But it requires decent resolution and the right conditions, which are unlikely.

I also have no idea if the route is single wire the whole way, or double wire in the town and (if it operates here) single wire in the factory
