Brussels Expo
The photo was taken during Expo 58. This tram was not yet finished.
In this state, the tram would never come in service: the Brussels tram network maintained the use of the trolleys until its closure in July 1978. In Brussels, the N.M.V.B. never used pantographs.

The Brussels tram network had been once closed in 1978 and then once restored? Or what did you mean with "its closure"? Or maybe there were two separate networks in Brussels?

In Brussels, 2 networks existed.
STIB/MIVB 1435 mm and still exists.
NMVB/SNCV 1000 mm closed 31/07/1978.
The NMVB/SNCV had tramlines in the whole country, only in Charleroi a couple of kilometers of the original network exists. And of course, the Kusttram between Knokke and De Panne.
During WW II direct services were organized between Brussels and Liege, transfers of trams over 150 km... it was a very big network.
