Unlike on the North American subways, the entire EMU has the same number. There are only 36 EMUs on Seoul Metro line 9. 24 at the start of service, and 12 more added later.

Да. Потому, что 9536 - общий номер состава, а не порядковый номер вагона.

Получается, не могло быть на обоих концах одинаковый номер. ВЫ сами пишете, что с одной стороны 9536, с другой 9036.
Зато общие номера составов у Дубайских вагонов. Там, как раз, например, 5001 - общий номер состава.

The number of the EMU is 936, that is the standard of the Korean wikipedia. I asked about this in the thread

I updated the information at the bottom of the Seoul city page, and also the database.
