The classical story.
The construction was financed by the French state. The costs of operation were budgeted by the city and were not too expensive, because it was a fully automatic vehicle.
Unfortunately, the city was unable to cover the costs of the much-needed renovation of the entire installation. The demolition of the whole turned out to be cheaper than the renovation...
