With route 15 switching to new Sunwin iEV12T trolleybuses on January 18, YoungMan trolleybuses (JNP6120BEV1 and JNP-WG120G) are fully retired from regular route service.

2nd batch of Sunwin SWB5129BEV77G (iEV12T) trolleybuses with 100.27kWh batteries start entering service on routes 14, 19 and 23, replacing the YoungMan JNP6120BEV1 (and its related models)

Введена первая в Китае автоматическая (роботизированная) линия рельсового транспорта Пуцзян протяжённостью 6,69 км. В техническом отношении линия представляет собой LRT на шинном ходу.

Запущено движение по линии троллейбусного маршрута BRT (маршрут №71) протяжённостью 17,5 км.
Всего в эксплуатации в Шанхае находится (вместе с рядом восстановленных и BRT) 13 троллейбусных маршрутов общей протяжённостью 146,8 км.
Действуют маршруты №№:6,8,13,14,15,19,20,22,23,24,25,28 и 71 (BRT).

В преддверии 100 летнего юбилея троллейбусного движения принято решение не закрывать троллейбусную сеть.
Заказаны 300 новых троллейбусов Youngman Neoplan JNP6120BEV1, первая партия из 60 троллейбусов прибыла в город в марте, остальные- до конца года.
Вместе с этим списаны все старые троллейбусы, а также закрыт троллейбусный маршрут №13, после чего осталось 10 троллейбусных маршрутов в эксплуатации.

Протяжённость сети метрополитена превысила 500 км (составила на эту дату 529,3 км).

Троллейбусная сеть Шанхая оказалась под угрозой закрытия из-за развернувшихся по всему городу строительных работ, возведению развязок и прокладке новых линий метрополитена.
С 1994 г. по 2013 г. из 20 маршрутов последовательно закрыты 9: №№9, 12, 16, 18 и 27. Позднее, в 2000 — х годах: №№ 17 и 21, а к 2008 г.: №№11 и 26.
В 2013 г. Шанхайский троллейбус входит с 11 маршрутами, которые обслуживает парк примерно из 150-ти последних троллейбусов.
