V pravé části fotky můžeme vidět panely, které byly do ulice vloženy jako zakrytí místa, kde měly být tramvajové koleje.
V 70. a 80. letech 21. století bylo v Chomutově a Jirkově vybudováno mnoho panelových sídlišť. Autobusová doprava však této přepravní poptávce přestávala dostačovat, navíc pro autobusy Ikarus 280 byl kopcovitý terén náročný, a tak se uvažovalo o vybudování tramvajové rychlodráhy. Po ekonomickém úpadku na přelomu 80. a 90. let se od stavby tramvají ustoupilo, byť některé silnice byly připravené pro tramvajové těleso. V roce 1990 se rozhodlo o vybudování sítě trolejbusů, což bylo méně nákladné. Provoz trolejbusů byl zahájen 1.7.1995.

In the 1970s and 1980s, many prefabricated housing estates were built in Chomutov and Jirkov. However, bus transport was no longer sufficient for this transport demand, and for Ikarus 280, the hilly terrain was demanding, and so it was planned to build a tram speed train. After the economic downturn at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, the construction of the trams retreated, although some roads were prepared for the tram body. In 1990, it was decided to build a trolleybus network, which was less expensive. Trolleybuses were launched on 1 July 1995.
